The Nation Media Group (NMG) CEO, Joe Muganda has promised unwavering cooperation with the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT), to make sure media serve wananchi responsibly.

He said it when he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Secretary of the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT), Kajubi Mukajanga on July 28,2015 at the Council’s offices in Dar es salaam.

Muganda, who was accompanied by Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) Managing Director Francis Nanai and MCL Group Managing Editor Bakari Machumu commended the Council for championing self regulation in the region and South of sub Sahara region.

Kajubi, on his part said MCL was an important member of the Council and that “what it does matters a lot in Tanzania”.

The ES said MCL approached the Council to intervene when the state flexed muscles on it after being accused of slanted coverage during last general elections in 2010.

Muganda is in Tanzania to familiarize with MCL, a subsidiary company of Nation Media Group. MCL publishes three editions, the Citizen , Mwananchi and Mwanaspoti newspapers.
