While 2008 was clearly a year of transition at the Media Council of Tanzania, 2009 proved to be one of firsts. In 2008 the Council was for the first time moving from project-based operations that were at times ad-hoc in nature, to a comprehensive, integrated programmatic approach where linkages and synergies were developed within the organization. The transition came with a lot of change and excitement both at the Council and amongst our stakeholders.

The year 2008 was in a way a transitional one, from project-oriented, event based activity implementation,to a strategic programmatic approach. The new approach called for holistic planning and integrated implementation that ensures linkages and synergies between different programme areas, all leading to the same general objective.The challenge was not in just getting the right leadership and personnel to bring about the desired change,but also in creating an environment that would facilitate change of attitudes and work ethic.
Annual Report 2007
During the year under review,programme implementation went on smoothly and the planned activities were implemented successfully. The MCT continues to gain the confidence of its stakeholders,the government and the general public.
Its role as arbitrator is well established and recognized and it is of priority importance to consolidate the achievements gained in this area,as it would be crucial in ensuring a strong and viable Council.
