The Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) Programme Strategy extending from 2012 to 2015 has na explicit component on research,policy analysis and documentation.

MCT saw this programme area as an important activity that would bring about research-based results for enlightening the public on critical media subjects such as policy and laws and their impact on the freedom of expression as a basic human right.

Based on this strategy mandate, the Council engaged two consultants,a socialogist and an experienced journalist,to prepare terms of reference(ToRs)that would inform media stakeholders about this new direction of supporting the journalism profession in Tanzania.

RESOLVED COMPLAINTS

These are complaints that were brought before the Ethics Committee and decided/resolved.

LHRC complained The Citizen Newspaper for publishing a damaging story by quoting a special audit report on its edition of May 3, 2012 with a headline “Scam claims hit top NGO” insinuating that there were embezzlement.

LHRC demanded The Citizen News paper to publish a formal apology because there were no scam reported from the audit report alleging that the media report has dented its reputation to the general public and to the donor community
