MCT staff to work remotely due to coronavirus

Following the outbreak of coronavirus, staff at the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) will be working from home for two weeks from Monday March 30. The office will re-open on April 14, 2020
The Executive Secretary, Kajubi Mukajanga said measures have been taken to ensure that Council work does not suffer.
He said engagement, contacts, communications and consultations with Council officials will continue through email and cellphones.
Briefing the staff on the emergency measures taken by the management on March 27, 2020, Mukajanga cautioned that the decision to work remotely does not amount to a holiday.
Prior to the decision for the staff to work from home, the Council had already taken measures designed to check the spread of the coronavirus pandemic including suspension of a number of its activities involving gatherings.
The activities are seminars, training and crucial meetings with stakeholders.
The Council had also taken safety measures including urging staff to adhere to advise and instructions given by official health bodies and public authorities.
It had also put in place sanitizers for use for staff and visitors as well.
In addition the Council has come out with a comprehensive guideline for covering the pandemic for local media.
